What does it take to “level-up” your business?
Whether it’s kicking it up a notch or moving from 6- to 7-figures, there are a few simple, yet compelling steps you should be taking to level up.
Successfully taking your business to the next level is the sum of small steps.
You’ve got to be making something worth talking about. Usually, that means that you’re incredibly passionate about what you’re making. Some local businesses who really hit the mark with this come to mind including…
INTERESTING AND INSPIRING
“Humans have a deeply-seated need to identify with others; we are social animals. We quickly pick up on how we are similar to or different from others, and we gravitate towards those people (or environments, or products) that we identify most closely with.”
– Seth Godin
Have you heard about the Humans of New York (HONY) project? What started as a photography project then became a very popular Instagram account, which then became a book and is now a documentary series on Facebook.
Things Are What You Make of Them by Adam J. Kurtz is a book of insights and inspiration for anyone who makes art (or anything else). The tear out pages (!) are a fun way to keep little nuggets of reminders posted around your desk, home, car, etc.
WHAT WE’RE READING

- Your brand’s story has the power to be a map, mirror and magnet—keeping you on track and attracting like-minded people who want to create the future with you.
- There’s no doubt that storytelling is now a highly visual medium. The Big Picture shares major news stories with only images and short captions. It’s an impactful way to get the big picture of what’s going on in the world.
- Do you think your clients would be able to draw your logo from memory? Starbucks, Apple and others tested this and the results are a little surprising! How do you think your company would do with this test?
- We love the books in the Do Book Series. They’re short, impactful and easy to follow. Lots of interesting topics ranging from How to Tell Your Story So the World Listens to The Secret to Happy Honey Bees. Our personal favorite, How a Simple Email Newsletter Can Transform Your Business, was the foundation for the format of this newsletter!
